news about our new contract:
On April 5th AEA ratified the new contract language,
and on April 16th the school board voted to approve it.
Here's how the salary increase will come to us-
We will receive two checks on May 31st.
1) a May paycheck at the new rate

2) a check with two line items:
the amount of a 6% increase from July through December 2023
the amount of a 7.06% increase from January-April 2024
AUSD's increased contributions to healthcare begin in January 2025.

PAR*- support educators working to improve their individual practices
organizing- plan and implement actions for fun, solidarity, and development

SPED*- consider conditions of education specialists and make recommendations to the bargaining team

in May, AEA's rep council will consider endorsing:
SB252: to prohibit the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) from investing in fossil fuel companies, and to provide they divest any current holdings in these companies by 2031.
