music!

Musicians... bring on the music!

Bargain! (yes, it's the Wobble)

AEA all around  (tell em what you do)

Do you listen? Do you fix? (can you teach too?)

Do you have what you need? (tell em what you need)

Is it pay? Can you stay? (let ‘em hear you!)

Bargain baby, bargain baby, bargain baby, bargain 4x

Get health care! yeah, yeah 4x

Ey bteam make em' raise  it up, we can back you up 4x

For sure they’re shakin'- might be wakin’

Their stories fall in our quake.

They say they’re saving the savings for saving

Instead of giving a bit for kids' sake.

So we’re changing the game, it’s change time.

Cuz our needs and our students’ needs rhyme…

Time to think, Trust and care

Space to play, Pay that’s fair

So it’s game time! play on! We

can change this hegemony.

And who once said that if she couldn’t dance

she wouldn’t join that revolution and it didn’t have a chance?

So bring the music, bring the art, bring the math.

Bring the science and the drama. Change the path!

When we listen and we fix and we teach too,

we’re in the past and the present and the future.

bargain baby, bargain baby, bargain baby, bargain 4x

Get health care!  yeah, yeah 4x

Don’t want a keeper. Or to be kept

But we can stay here if there’s respect

And we will listen, fix and teach too

With our hearts and our souls and our intellect.

But now instead of joy and curiosity

Our days are full of stress and furiosity

But who once said that if she couldn’t dance

She wouldn’t join the revolution and it wouldn’t have a chance.

So we’re changing the game, it’s change time.

Yep, our needs and our students’ needs rhyme…

Time to think,

Trust and care

Space to play,

Pay that’s fair

Bring the science and the drama. Change the path!

We’ve been with you- all along (we’re here!)

You know what we need-We know what you need

You’re the ones we need- We’re the ones you need

Ey bteam make em' raise  it up, we can back you up 4x

Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Teachers

Teachers ain't easy to find, and we're harder to hold.

Our trade is in courage and kindness, not diamonds or gold.

But at the end of the month when we look in our pockets

and find only abstracts and lint,

we realize knowledge is good for our culture,

but probably won't pay the rent.

So mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be teachers.

Don't let 'em love learning or read them old books-

make 'em be bankers and rockstars and such.

And papa's, tell your babies not to be teachers-

at least not in this town where we can't settle down,

cuz they don't seem to value our work.

Our students remind us that anger

means something needs fixing.

Like greed and malaise that cause fires and floods,

and turn anger and pain into bullets and blood.

Those who don't see it, can't know it,

and those who can don't always know what to do.

So we listen and learn and we learn and we teach.

And together we find our way through.

So mamas, maybe let your babies grow up to be teachers.

Or nurses or dancers or cowboys who sing

about healing the wetlands and ending fighting.

And papas, tell your babies it's good to be teachers.

We turn trouble to art, and pain into smarts.

And we know that's what's needed here.

Do Right Teacher

Take us to average,

so we can stay-

and nobody

can tempt us away.

But take us for granted,

and the work that we do,

will walk away with us-

into the blue.

Our students are worth fighting for.

And we understand-

we're stronger together-

so together we demand...

If you want a do-right, all-day teacher,

                (counselor, psychologist, nurse...)

you're gonna have to put on your glasses,

sit down on your

ergonomically-designed stools,

and figure it out.

Solidarity Forever

We protect and guide the children

as they read and think and learn-

to build bridges, cure diseases,

calculate a planet's turn-

But now we can't afford to live here on the wages that we earn,

so the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,

Solidarity forever,

Solidarity forever,

For the union makes us strong.

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run,

There can be no power greater anywhere

beneath the sun;

Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one,

But the union makes us strong.

Joe Jenck's jig version is much more fun to sing-

and he likes our new verse
